The volunteers of YFPM Comval are expressing their gratitude upon the approval of our beloved President Rodrigo Duterte on the Free Tuition Scholarship, through the Republic Act 10931 or "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education,” which will benefit millions of young Filipinos.
We would like to thank our government, especially its Legislative Branch, for listening to the voices of the youth, and taking it as a priority to craft a bill that will lessen both the burden of our youth and their families financially.
As a peace-advocating organization, we view this new law as an effective way for us to counter violent extremism since more out of school youth who are in conflict-affected areas will get the chance to be educated and will be detached to the ideologies of Lawless Armed Groups. Hence, we are hoping that this historical event will not only reflect the quality of our educational institution but also to the attainment and sustainability of peace and development in our country.
On the other hand, we also urge our government to pass a bill that will include Peace Education in our educational institutions at all levels, to detach our students from violence by emphasizing to them their roles in protecting the country through positive and peaceful means. By this, we could instill discipline, cultivate the culture of peace and patriotism among our next generations.
