SK Peace Advocates Convened

NEW BATAAN, CVP - With the purpose of encouraging the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) to work for peace in the Province, the Youth for Peace Movement Compostela Valley (YFPMCV) has conducted the SK-YFPMCV Volunteers Convention last June 3, 2018, at the Bamboo Inland Garden Resort here, gathering at most 65 members of YFPMCV who were elected as SK Officials.

The mini-event was opened with a congratulatory message given by the President of the organization, Mr. Bren Cabatingan, and followed by a lecture on YFPM Comval's Background. An update on the Peace and Security Situation in the Province was also presented by Cpt. Edson Abello, the Civil-Military Operations Officer of the 1001st Infantry Brigade.

Accordingly, the lectures aimed to provide a deeper understanding among the participants on the importance of the youth in peacebuilding.

A presentation on how the SK could connect with the YFPMCV's programs, or the other way around, was likewise presented to show the organization's sincere interest in becoming a partner of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan, and how the SK could help address the causes of youth insurgency in the grassroots with the YFP.

Meanwhile, the participants also engaged in team-building activities to boost their interpersonal skills, which they could use in their respective SK Councils.
