Maco Peacebuilders start the year with happiness for GIDA kids


MACO, CVP — The Youth for Peace Movement Maco has welcomed the 2019 with sharing of happiness after delivering "A Peace of Happiness" to over a hundred children of Barangay Teresa here on January 5, 2019.

The outreach program was conducted in partnership with the Charlie Company of the 71st Infantry Battalion, Provincial Governor Hon. Jayvee Tyron L. Uy, LGU- Maco headed by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Alvera Veronica Rimando, Barangay Council of Teresa headed by Punong Barangay Hon. Felipe Obligana, and other private stakeholders who shared apples, books, cakes, slippers, and other school materials needed by the children on the next opening of classes.


The presence of Punong Barangay Hon. Obligana creates a positive tone in the entire activity as he opened the program with enthusiasm and gratefulness in behalf of the beneficiaries' parents.

“Mapasalamaton gayud kaayo kita kay aduna’y mga kabatan-unan nga nagpasiugda ug sama ingun ani nga paghatag ug pahalipay sa mga bata,” he said.

Aside from the gift-giving, the YFPM volunteers have also prepared storytelling activities and parlor games which added joy and entertainment to the children.


Meanwhile, with the positive start to 2019, the members of YFPM Maco headed by Ms. Elaine Marie Cabatingan expressed their positivity that the programs aligned for the year such as Kalinaw Para sa Kinaiyahan project, Cluster Peace Camp, Volunteer Orientation and Delegation, and other youth empowering activities will be realized.
