Comval YFP Volunteers Assist YLS Tagum

TAGUM CITY - Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Chapters in Mindanao has once again proven their brotherhood after several volunteers of Youth for Peace Movement Compostela Valley have assisted YFPM Tagum in their conduct of 3rd Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) on April 7-8, 2019, at the Tagum National Trade School here.

During the Facilitators Orientation, a day before the event, YFPM Comval President, Bren Cabatingan served as one of the lecturers who imparted different techniques in facilitating YLS and its process.

He also discussed the tasks and responsibilities of each facilitator especially their role in developing the participants into potential peacebuilders.

At the course of the 3-day event, several YFPM Comval volunteers likewise served as one of the Team Mentors who guided 24 groups during the lectures, team building activities, group discussions, and other activities.

They also shared some of their experiences as volunteers to encourage their team members to join the YFPM Tagum after the YLS.

Some of the volunteers were Roland Año and Dearfe Loreno, both Officers of YFPM Comval Council; Elaine Marie Cabatingan, Jessa Mae Alcala, and Nicole Bermoy of YFPM Maco; Chanefa Erra Villamor and Alvie May Bucadon of YFPM Laak; Raph Kent Arupe and Sitti Nadia Demuna of YFPM Pantukan; and Jerome Batasin-in of YFPM Compostela.

On the 2nd day, Alexis Micutuan, the former President of YFPM Comval and current Coordinator of Organizational Development Committee, also graced the event by sharing inputs on the Sustainable Development Goals and the Volunteer Tracks of the organization where the participants could join after YLS.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cabatingan expressed that they are privileged to be part of the 3rd YLS Tagum and that they are happy to share their time, energy, and ideas to help YFPM Tagum shape its new volunteers.

"It is an honor for us to serve the Youth for Peace even beyond Comval. Guided by our motto "I am a leader, I am called to empower," we believe that the call to empower the youth has no boundaries. That is why we will always be ready to extend our service even with other organizations such as YFPM Tagum," he added.

Both organizations' history of strong partnership through facilitating or conducting activities can be traced back since the establishment of YFPM (TALBOS) in 2011, which is still alive today.
