Sanitation awareness, Hygiene Kits delivered to GIDA amid COVID-19 scare

MONTEVISTA, DDO - Residents of Brgy. Lebanon, a far-flung community in this Municipality, was able to receive Valentine gifts in a form of hygiene kits from the volunteers of Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) Montevista, as they rolled out their flagship activity called "Kalinaw sa Panglawas 2020" on February 14, 2020.

Aside from delivering the kits, the volunteers also oriented the beneficiary community on proper sanitation and the importance of personal hygiene in protecting their families from communicable diseases such as the COVID-19.

According to Lorie Jean Hiyas, President of YFPM Montevista, they have initiated the activity to educate the communities, especially those that cannot be easily reached by the government, on how to keep themselves from being infected, despite that no cases have been monitored yet in Davao de Oro.

"As the number of patients suspected to have been transmitted with the virus continue to rise worldwide, we need to do our part in giving the communities the right way and information to prevent the disease from spreading," she said.

The said special activity is under the A Peace of Happiness Project of YFPM Davao de Oro which aims to assist the government in reaching out to areas where support and services are difficult to be delivered.

It was made possible through the support of the Local Government Unit of Montevsita, headed by Hon. Eutropio Jayectin; Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation, headed by Hon. John Rhean Mahumot; Alpha Company 25th IB, led by, 1Lt Ronald Derick Legada; PCPT Gerald E. Borja of PNP Montevista; and other stakeholders.
