Maco Youth Group Extends Food Assistance to COVID-19 Affected Community

MACO, DDO - As several people continue to keep themselves indoors while others were out of a job because of the on-going community quarantine, providing food on the table has become a challenge, especially to those that belong in the poverty line.

With this concern, the Youth for Peace Movement Maco has initiated a donation drive called "Oplan Tinabangay" to gather donations that will be extended to families in the Municipality who are gravely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

On May 30, 2020, at least 76 households at Purok Masunurin 1, Binuangan here were able to benefit from the initiative, receiving one food pack per family, as the organization implemented its first wave of donations.

The event was also made possible through the support of several groups and individuals such as Ms. Lyn Rosewytz, Sangguniang Kabataan of Brgy. Poblacion, Local Government Unit of Maco, YFPM volunteers, and other supporters.

Meanwhile, Elaine Marie Cabatingan, President of YFPM Maco expressed her gratitude to those who supported the donation drive and allowed the organization to be the bridge of their compassion.

"We believe that crises such as this are also opportunities to activate our compassion for others. We are thankful that many people has allowed us to bridge their compassion to those in need through this donation drive," she said.

"You can assure that we will continue this cause as compassion must also be part of our 'new normal'," she added.
