To Papa, Daddy, Tatay, Mama

Little by little, as you embraced me with your arms, I felt the first words you told me "I love you".

Those nights of battling against my flaws, you were the only one who called me princess. For the fights we had, for not letting me hang out with my friends. For still having a curfew at the age of 23. We never agreed to a single decision we make for my dreams, but you supported me all the way. It irritates me when you talk about not letting me have a relationship. To all the times you make fun of my mistakes and thinking my plans were just jokes.

As I fall down on my knees you never reached for me, for you believe that I'm strong and I can stand on my own. Every tear that you caused, hitting me with your belt, taught me how to be good and be responsible for the bad things that I made. You helped me to be empowered.

Yes, you stood there, doing stuff I thought was hurting me. But you stood there, blocking all the hindrance that could cause my dreams to be damaged and my growth to be worth it.

Thank you Papa.
Thank you Tatay.
Thank you Dad.
Thank you, Ma, for also being a father to us.
Thank you Pang.

From the bottom of our hearts, the Youth for Peace Movement Davao de Oro would like to greet all the Fathers out there who helped their children to become empowered.

Happy Father's Day.
