𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗒π—₯ π—£π—˜π—”π—–π—˜! : π˜›π˜©π˜¦ 𝘍π˜ͺ𝘳𝘴𝘡-𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘡π˜ͺ𝘡𝘢𝘡π˜ͺ𝘰𝘯 π˜ͺ𝘯 π˜‹π˜’π˜·π˜’π˜° π˜₯𝘦 π˜–π˜³π˜° 𝘡𝘰 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘡π˜ͺ𝘡𝘢𝘒𝘡𝘦 𝘡𝘩𝘦π˜ͺ𝘳 π˜™π˜°π˜­π˜¦π˜΄ π˜ͺ𝘯 𝘚𝘢𝘴𝘡𝘒π˜ͺ𝘯π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜—π˜¦π˜’π˜€π˜¦ π˜ͺ𝘯 𝘡𝘩𝘦 π˜—π˜³π˜°π˜·π˜ͺ𝘯𝘀𝘦


More than 110 student leaders from the Monkayo College of Arts Sciences and Technology (MonCAST) participated in the 4th Campus Peace Symposium with the theme “Cultivating the Zones of Peace to Sustain an Insurgency-free Davao de Oro” spearheaded by the Youth For Peace Movement Davao de Oro (YFPMDdO) on October 20, 2022. A one-day information-driven event that empowers and educates youth about peace and development in the Province of Davao de Oro.




As the first-ever college institution to be conducted, Mr. Jess Elton Largado, YFPMDdO President gave importance to the topic of ‘Davao de Oro Youth Index in the Face of Insurgency and their Role in Peace Building’ and left a special message that states, “I hope na pillion ninyo na magtinguha ug peace sa kanunay.”

An in-depth discussion by SSG Reinerio L. Burnea (INF) PA from 10 Civil-Military Operation Batallion in his lecture on ‘Insurgency and its Infiltration to Youth. It answers why the Philippines is experiencing pandemonium among its government and its people, whether it is due to corruption or insurgency. In which, the youth are the rooting victims, and how it is important to educate students and young people about insurgency tactics and recruitment techniques. “Hindi po korapsyon ang hinungdan sa kapobrehon sa nasod sa Pilipinas kundi insurgency.” said CMO Burnea.  


The YFPM-Monkayo President, Mr. Christopher M. Basan, enlightened the students on how Peace should begin with us in order to spread peace to others, as he touched the soul of every student on his topic in the six "S" of peace education in the afternoon session, focusing in particular on ‘Spirituality’. In relation to this is "Sensitivity," tackled by the Community Development Federation officer Francis A. Bantilan from YFPM Pantukan, encourages the youth to create a peaceful community by fostering an understanding of the values of intercultural respect and solidarity so that prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination will no longer exist.


Team-building exercises were facilitated, including the 'Gray Area' which enables student leaders to speak out about social issues without resorting to violence, and "'Obra Kalinaw' which asked students to envision their school and community in the next ten years.


Moreover, Mr. Don Sy, the Youth Development Officer, heard what the students inspiring him to share a message of inspiration from Municipal Mayor Manuel "Way Kurat" Zamora. “Nanghinaot si Mayor Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora na ubanan siya sa mga kabatan-onan sa iyahang panghinaot na mamahimong malambuon jud ang atoang Lungsod sa Monkayo.” said Mr. Sy.


The program concluded with the participants' Manifesto of Commitment to Peace and Registration to Youth Leadership Summit.


The YFPMDdO is enthusiastic about the support that the Local Government Unit of Monkayo together with the 10th CMO "Kalinaw" Battalion and MonCAST for commencing themselves as advocates and conduits of peace and development.
